Parents who are choosing to adopt children often consider an Asian baby as one of their first choices. Many people have the mistaken opinion it is due to their appearance being more similar to a Caucasian, or more universally accepted. You need to consider the bigger picture of why an Asian baby may be the first choice.

Adopting parents are always hoping to get a small baby. The challenge is the limited numbers of infants available is far short of the number of parents wishing to adopt. Many times these parents are not concerned as much with race, as they are with having a baby. They start their search locally, and quickly discover their options are very limited. They then expand their search globally.

When you search globally for infants to adopt, you are sure to need to consider an Asian baby. It is a simple fact of numbers. When you look at a list of the 20 top populated countries in the world you will discover almost half of the countries are Asian. 9 of the top 20 countries are Asian, with number 21 also being an Asian country. When you consider the two countries leading the list, China and India, represent over a third of the world’s population it becomes apparent why many couples consider an Asian baby in their search.

Some Asian countries have a high number of babies available for adoption due to the low incomes of families. They cannot afford to care for the infant, and they are at risk of starvation, or abandonment. In these situations, many of these parents opt to allow their infant to be adopted to save the baby’s life. This allows many parents desiring to adopt a baby to have an opportunity they may never have found without stepping outside their country.

There are many other good reasons why an Asian baby is popular. It is true a white couple is more likely to consider an Asian baby over babies from many other races. It is a natural tendency to want your adopted baby to have as close of appearance to you as possible. While the baby will not be a close match, the skin color will be closer to their adopting family than would a black child. This is not a case of racial discrimination, but just a natural preference most people share.

The final reason many people love to adopt an Asian baby, they are simply very cute. As we all know, every baby is cute, but many people love the appearance of an Asian baby. If you choose to adopt and find yourself considering baby’s on a worldwide basis, you will want to explore the options available through many Asian countries. You will need to work through the challenges of an international adoption, but the rewards at the end of your efforts will be richly rewarded. You will have the opportunity to hold, snuggle, and raise a beautiful baby.
