Baby Changing Table – Keeping Poo In The Proper Place

06 August 2010 | Written by Baby Cherish

3 AM and you are rubbing your eyes as you head to the nursery to discover what all the crying is about. Walking through the door you instantly know, your nose has told you. You grab the wipes, go to the crib, and start changing your baby’s diaper. Then you make that fatal mistake. You just got a little poo on the sheets. Mumbling and grumbling, you pick up the baby in one arm, and start changing the bed. Where is your baby changing table?

Admittedly, this scene does not occur too often, but it is frustrating. What you are not aware of is how often you probably do get a little fecal matter on the sheets, and were never aware of it. You probably never have stopped to think about the added bacteria you could be adding to your baby’s crib. You may have never considered putting the box of baby wipes, powder, and other supplies in the crib could be adding dirt, germs, and chemicals into their sleep place.

A baby changing table is often considered a luxury by many new parents. It would be nice, but it is just another expense you really do not need. When you think about the potential of putting chemicals and bacteria into your baby’s bed, you may want to start reconsidering your thoughts.

The baby changing table keeps the poo, bacteria, and chemicals in their proper place, on a temporary surface you can easily clean.

The changing table gives you one other really major advantage. It saves you time. You might question this as you think about how easy it is to change the baby in their crib, but you may have forgotten about the time it took you to pick up the supplies, put them in the bed, then to put them all away. Then you double check the bed to make sure you did not forget anything. You notice you left the dirty diaper sitting in the corner, so you scoop it up and take it to the trash can.

When you use a baby changing table, those supplies are right there. You pick up the baby, put them on the changing table, make the quick diaper change, and put them back in bed. All the supplies and mess are away from the bed. You will not need to double check the changing table, you will not forget to put the baby away in their crib.

Next time you are wearily walking to the nursery, eyes filled with sleep, and then need to hunt around to find the supplies your spouse conveniently left in a new place, ask yourself which is easier. Instead of going back to bed, giving them an elbow in the ribs, and telling them about hiding the supplies, make a note and in the morning inform them you want a baby changing table. It is the proper way to change your baby, keeping their bed clean, you efficient, and happily heading back to bed quickly.
