Quick, before your baby is even born, make sure you get a book, chart, or guide showing baby development stages. The speed at which your baby grew in your womb is going to continue right along. Your baby is going to make amazing changes during these first six months of life, and it will happen in the wink of an eye.

During the first month your life has probably been spinning. You have been learning to live without sleep, your baby has been learning how to call you to their side in an instant. At the end of the month you can expect your baby to be holding their head up while lying on their stomach. They will begin staring at faces, and will learn how to steal your heart. Your baby will start responding to sounds.

By the end of the second month of life you are going to be treated with a few new sounds. You will start hearing coos, gurgles, and other little sounds. You will notice your baby is following objects and movements in the room. They will be holding their head up for short periods of time.

The third month is an exciting time of recognition. Your baby will now recognize your face and your scent. They are starting to identify mommy and daddy as those special people. This month your baby will start holding their head up steadily.

The fourth month is life changing. You thought it only happened later in life, but now your baby starts talking back to you. Actually they will start cooing in reply to the sounds you make to them, which adds to the fun. Your baby is starting to use their legs, with the ability to support themselves with your assistance. During the third to fourth months you need to start using greater caution. Your baby is going to learn to start rolling.

The fifth month is exploration time. Your baby has discovered their own hands and feet and have started playing with them. The bold color on all of those baby toys are now highly visible to your baby and they are becoming much more interested.

The sixth month brings your baby into imitating sounds, rolling over in both directions, and turning towards sounds. This is the time your baby can start getting a little more mobile with rolling around. Make sure you watch them closely.

The wonderful things about these baby development stages is how fast this is all occurring. The six months sometimes feels very long, but when you realize how fast your baby has grown, how much development has occurred, you are going to be going into shock. The little newborn which you could easily carry on one arm is now taking both arms to carry. Their quiet still body is now full of motion and activity. They have developed a unique personality which you love. The amazing thing, this development keeps screaming along at high speed for the next couple years. You will be amazed.
