Have you ever thought about baby modeling as a way to show off your baby, and possibly make some extra money? It can be very profitable, and is not nearly as competitive as you think.
One thing which steers many parents away from baby modeling is their belief in the high competition in the field. You need to stop and think about this for a moment. Baby models are only able to model for a very short time. A model for 0-3 month clothing is going to have a career of only 2 months. It is the same for each new age range, there is a very short time window for those models. The competition is much less than you would expect.
You may be concerned your baby is not going to do well at photo shoots. You might be right, but you will never know unless you go to an audition, or talk to a company with baby modeling jobs. They will give you a quick evaluation. Their photographers and staff are experts at working with babies, and know how to get the shots they need.
Probably the biggest requirement in baby modeling is having a baby who is happy being around other people. If they cry almost instantly when someone else holds them, or they meet strangers, their chances of being a baby model will decrease. If they smile, giggle, and enjoy being around other people, their chances of doing well in baby modeling go up dramatically.
What if you go into an audition and they refuse your baby? Are you worried you will go away feeling like your baby was not beautiful enough? The truth is they are not always looking for the most beautiful baby. They are looking for babies who everyone can identify with. They want everyone to be able to picture their baby wearing the clothes, using the diapers, or whatever item they are selling.
The best way to get started is to contact a baby modeling agency, or a model agency in your area. They will be able to provide you with information on exactly what you will need. Make sure to take along some good photos of your baby, preferably done by a professional photographer. The agency will be able to tell you about the types of jobs available in your area, what the current pay scale is, and what your odds of getting jobs are. Listen to their advice closely.
While you will discover there are a fair amount of parents trying to get these jobs for their babies, it will be far less than you expected. Most parents do not have the confidence, or the desire to get out there and give it a try. Just by going and trying you have a fair chance of landing a few jobs, and maybe many jobs for your baby. After you have given it a try, you can choose whether you want to pursue baby modeling in a wider geographic area, or if you really do not like it. It is one job you can both have fun doing, and your baby may just become a local celebrity overnight.
