How many cameras do you have in your home?  It is not always the camera which is the most important part of making a great baby picture.  The most important part is taking the time to snap those pictures.  There are a few items you may wish to consider as you work to fill up your albums.

Digital cameras are the favorite way to take a baby picture today.  If you are planning on buying a new digital camera make sure it has plenty of memory and plenty of optical zoom.  You should choose a camera which takes high quality photos of 8 megapixels or higher.  This is important for being able to blow up your favorite baby picture. 

Check what kind of memory the camera uses, and then buy extra memory cards.  You will want to be able to change memory quickly when fill up one memory card with a movie.  Always buy rechargeable batteries for your digital camera.  You will be using it extensively, and do not want to be wasting money buying batteries all the time.  Have at least two sets of batteries.

One important aspect of taking a great baby picture, is not focusing on only your infant.  Include their surroundings in the pictures.  This makes the picture more valuable in the future, as you relive the memories and tell them the stories behind the picture.

Another aspect of using a digital camera, do not get stuck in only using your photographs digitally.  Your family members would love to have real photos they can hold in their hands.  You can have them printed economically.  A digital baby picture gives you a big advantage over standard photos.  You can have them printed on cups, t-shirts, calendars, and many other items.  It is a great way to make gifts for grandparents.

Share the baby pictures with your friend and family through popular sites like Facebook, Flickr, and other photo sharing sites.  Being able to see a new baby picture almost instantly is fun for everyone.  You can protect the privacy of the pictures by using the privacy controls on the sites to only allow certain people to view the pictures.

Taking your own pictures is not always the best method.  Sometimes you should take your baby to a studio to have a high quality baby picture shot.  They are able to produce a higher quality photo which you will treasure for the rest of your life.  Those special occasions of the first Easter, first Christmas, and first birthday all deserve special photographs.

A baby picture is one of the most treasured things you will own.  Make sure to have them backed up, and not stored only on your computer.  Computers fail, and losing all of your pictures would be a disaster.
