Baby Videos – Sharing Your Baby’s Actions, Not Only Their Appearance

Posted on 18 April 2010

Do you share you baby’s photographs on Facebook, Flickr, or another online location? People love to see pictures of your baby, and to leave comments. Baby videos take your sharing to an entirely new level. The comments will increase, and everyone will enjoy the videos even more than the photographs.

Making videos for uploading to your favorite sites is very easy. If you are already using a digital camera, it is almost sure to have a movie mode. Just switch the camera to start making movies, and capture your baby videos quickly and easily. You download the video from your camera the same way you do the photographs.

Check on the CD which came with your digital camera. Many times the manufacturers bundle a video editing program with the camera to let you add titles, background music, and special effects. It is great fun playing with the video and making it into something special to post to your Facebook profile.

Even if your camera does not include software for editing you are still in great shape. Most versions of Windows includes Microsoft Movie Maker which will allow you to edit the movie and does a great job. If you are using an Apple computer look for iMovie. You will have even more options for editing and improving your movie than the Microsoft users.

One of the biggest constraints to recording baby videos is the amount of available memory in your camera. Movies use your memory very quickly. If you are going to be serious about making movies of your baby to capture their personality and actions, you will want to buy additional memory cards for your digital camera.

Many people prefer to get a small digital video recorder instead of using their standard digital camera. A couple examples would be the Flip Camera and the Kodak Pocket Camera. These cameras can easily be carried in a purse or shirt pocket and are easy to start taking fast video clips. The other advantage of a specialized video camera is the software. The editing software most times includes options to directly upload to YouTube and Facebook. This simplifies your task, letting you get videos uploaded even faster. The Flip Camera does not even require a cable to hook up to your PC. You just flip out the USB connector on the camera and plug it in.

When you are creating and editing the video remember to put the date in one of the title or credit screens. When you look back at this video in 10 or 15 years you will want to know exactly when it is from.

Creating and sharing baby videos is one of the most fun and rewarding ways to keep your friends and family up to date with the changes in your baby. Instead of a static shot of your precious angel, they will get to see the little monster in their full glory. Don’t keep your baby’s adoring fans waiting, start giving them the movies they really want to see.
