Have you been trying to come up with ideas for activities with your baby? Ideas which will increase the bonding time, and give you both something fun to do. Baby yoga may be the answer you need.
Baby yoga is most commonly practiced by infants and their mothers. It is a great form of exercise for new mothers to ease into getting their body back into shape. What makes it especially exciting is your baby is part of the action.
Instead of dropping the baby off with someone to watch them, or trying to exercise while they sleep, you can have the fun of playing with your baby while you get in better shape. Baby yoga routines are adjusted according to your baby’s age and capabilities, too.
If your baby has reached an age where they can play, scoot, and crawl, then they can start participating any many of the movements with their mother’s assistance. By combining positions and movements moms and their babies can do together, both of them get great benefits. Your baby will learn to use new muscles, improve balance and coordination, and be laughing in delight at all the play time with mom.
Mothers will get time to exercise, have fun with their baby, improve their muscle strength, lengthen and tone muscles, and feel better about themselves. This can be especially true if you attend a baby yoga class where you are surrounded by other mothers and their babies. It can be a very fun environment.
Even if you do not have time to venture out to classes, you and your baby can have fun at home. You can pick up a DVD showing normal baby yoga movements, or grab a great book discussing all the techniques, exercises, and reasons behind each movement.
Your baby adds one other wonderful element to your workout. They give you some resistance training. They become your weight, and can help strengthen muscles even faster. As they increase in weight, your muscles adapt, making you stronger, too.
All you really need for equipment is some comfortable clothes and a yoga mat. If you are going to a class they are likely to provide the mats for you. Dress your baby in soft, easy breathing clothes, too.
One way to improve the fun for both of you, especially if you choose to workout at home, is to add music to the mix. Some soft, but fun, songs are great to enhance the workout, and your baby will love the music, too.
What about the fathers? They can benefit from doing baby yoga, also. The same exercises which work for mothers work for dads just as well. It is a great time for dads to unwind from the work day, get a little extra bonding time with the baby, and to shed stress.
Baby yoga is a great addition to any family. It is an activity everyone can share and enjoy. You will have a blast learning all the moves, and playing with your baby.
