Conceiving a baby can be easy for some couples, and a complete chore to another couple. If you discover you are one of the couples who need to keep trying and trying to conceive here are a few ideas which might help you have more success.
The first thing you must understand is how narrow of window you have for success each month. When you ovulate your egg will survive for around 24 hours, and then it dies and your menstrual cycle follows. Only during this 24 hour period is it possible for the egg to be fertilized, and then a baby’s journey to life is allowed to begin.
The good news, sperm can live for up to 72 hours within your body, giving a little more leeway in the time window for getting pregnant. The biggest problem is knowing when you need to be trying during the month to increase your odds of conceiving a baby.
The best way to discover this window of opportunity is with a simple thermometer. Were you aware your body changes temperature during the month as it ovulatesand goes through the menstrual cycle? It is not a big change, only about one half to one degree in change. You will need to start tracking your temperature on the first day of your period, and then continue taking it every morning before arising. You will discover at one point during the month your temperature will rise, and then stay elevated until your menstrual cycle completes.
This first month is only to get a baseline to start with. This is when you will be learning the approximate time schedule your body is on. This will help you to predict the day when you will ovulate in the next month, and can plan on having intercourse a couple days before ovulation, and repeating daily or every other day until after your ovulation. This will greatly increase your odds of conception. Some specialists recommend intercourse every other day, to make sure the sperm count remains high.
One other important piece of advice, after intercourse remain with your hips slightly raised for 20 to 30 minutes to give the sperm a higher chance of reaching the fallopian tubes and the precious egg. The sperm are going to struggle and seek the egg for the next 72 hours.
What if you cannot detect any temperature changes in your body? Then you need to visit with your family doctor or gynecologist. There is a chance you are not properly ovulating, even though you are having regular menstrual cycles. They will be able to work with you to discover if this is the case.
There is one more critical item you must take care of. Relax and do not become stressed or agitated when conceiving a baby. Stress can affect all kinds of bodily functions, and can reduce both of your fertility levels. Be playful, have fun, and realize with a little time you are going to have success, and be enjoying your new little baby.
