What is the one thing common in almost every baby toy you find in the mall and the super centers? They are all made almost completely of man made materials. They are filled with chemicals. Organic baby toys are made from natural substances.

What kind of organic baby toys can your find? For your smallest babies you can find great teething rings, rattles, and other hand toys which have been made from solid wood. The trees are grown organically, using no chemical pesticides or fertilizers. The wood is then harvested, and the toys made without the use of chemicals or paints. These wooden toys are splinter free, and very safe for letting your infants and toddlers play with.

What about toys which are more pliable and soft? You need to go back to the original forms of rubber instead of the man made substances. Natural rubber comes from plants and can be made organically. Natural rubber can be used to make a wide variety of rubber balls, rubber ducks, and other toys. Keep in mind you will not get the wild bright colors you have on synthetic materials. Those dyes are one of the reasons you are choosing to go with organic baby toys in the first place.

Fabric toys, dolls, and stuffed animals can all be made organically. They are most commonly created from organic cotton fabrics and stuffing. This allows for easy cleaning as the toys become soiled. Another fabric which can be used is wool. Sheep which are raised organically can have their wool harvested to make great fabrics and stuffing for organic toys.

When you go to wash our organic baby toys make sure to use cleaning products which are organic in nature. You do not want to go to all the trouble of hunting down organic toys only to turn around and fill them up with the same chemicals you were trying to avoid. Organic cleansers can be very efficient at cleaning the toys and keeping them safe for your baby.

Organic toys serve two important roles in your baby’s life. The first role is today, in protecting them from the exposure to unnecessary chemicals. This can help your baby stay healthier, with less risk of chemical overload. The longer term benefit is to their adult lives. If everyone was using organic products the high levels of pesticides and chemicals filling our rivers and waterways would start to decrease, creating a cleaner future for your children. Your role in buying organic toys may seem small, but every little bit helps.

Where are you going to find organic baby toys? You can find them in many baby boutiques, some baby stores, and are always available by searching online. Many malls and cities have stores specializing in organic products which may carry baby toys, too. If they do not carry them, they probably know who does. It may take a little more effort on your part to find these special baby toys, but your baby is worth it.
